What is Retivo
The jobs Retivo does, and the two parts it is made of.
Retivo is a tool for the network team. It answers the questions you get asked every week:
- Which devices are down right now?
- What changed on this firewall last night, and who changed it?
- Which switches run a version with a known, exploited vulnerability, and what should they be upgraded to?
- Is Telnet still enabled anywhere? Does every device send logs to our syslog server?
- Can you give the auditor a list of every device, its serial number and its support end date?
What it does
| Area | What you get |
|---|---|
| Inventory | Devices and groups, with model, serial, OS version, uptime, storage and health, read over SNMP or SSH |
| Monitoring | Up and down status every minute, alerts when a device goes down or comes back |
| Config backups | Daily and on demand over SSH; a new version is kept only when the config really changed |
| Compare and restore | Any two versions side by side; Retivo proposes the commands to go back to an older one |
| Config push | Send lines to one device or many, with a preview, a typed "yes" and the real before and after |
| Firmware | Overview of versions, and guided upgrades for Cisco, MikroTik and FortiGate |
| Vulnerabilities | Daily match against NVD and the CISA list of exploited vulnerabilities, with the version that fixes them |
| Lifecycle | End of support dates for the OS and hardware |
| Compliance | Required on or off for Telnet, SSH, HTTP and HTTPS, plus your own "must contain" rules |
| Topology | A live map from LLDP and CDP neighbours, exportable to PDF |
| Audit | Every sign-in and change logged, exportable to Excel, PDF or CSV |
| NetBot | A built-in helper that explains Retivo and, connected to an AI model, answers questions about your network |
The two parts
Retivo has two parts that work together:
- dash.retivo.net
- Where you sign up, manage your company's users and sign-in options, activate the license and download the node. You also use Retivo itself from here.
- Retivo Node
- A small Docker container you run on a Linux server inside your network. It talks to your devices over SSH and SNMP, keeps the device database, the credentials and every config version, and connects out to dash.retivo.net. Nothing has to be opened towards it.
Note
Device passwords, configs and the device database stay on your node. dash.retivo.net keeps your company, your users, the license and which nodes are enrolled. See Architecture for the details.
What's next
- Quick start: sign up and back up your first two devices.
- Supported platforms: check that your vendors are covered.
