Quick start

From sign-up to the first config backup in about fifteen minutes.

This guide sets up a free Retivo account for two devices.

Before you begin

You need:

  • A Linux server or VM inside your network that can reach your devices over SSH (TCP 22) and SNMP (UDP 161). See Install the Retivo Node for sizing.
  • Outbound HTTPS (TCP 443) from that server to the internet.
  • An SSH login for your devices. An SNMP community or SNMPv3 user is recommended.

1. Create your account

  1. Go to dash.retivo.net/#signup.
  2. Enter your company name, your name, your work email and a password. The email address is your username.
  3. Retivo emails you a 6-digit code. Enter it to confirm the address.

From now on, every sign-in asks for your password and then a new code sent to your email.

2. Activate a license

Open License and press Activate free license. The free plan covers 2 devices with every feature. To manage more, ask for a paid plan on the same page; it switches on as soon as we confirm it.

3. Install the node

Open Download & setup. Copy the install command shown there and run it on your server:

curl -fsSL https://dash.retivo.net/install.sh | sudo sh -s -- rtv_your_enrollment_token

The script installs Docker if it is missing, downloads the node and starts it. The node enrolls itself with your company and appears under Check it connected within a minute.

4. Sign in to the node and add your devices

  1. Open the node at http://<server address>:8080. The first admin password is printed in the node's log:

cd /opt/retivo-node && docker compose logs | grep -i password

  2. Go to Inventory > Credentials and add one SSH login and one SNMP set.

  3. Go to Inventory > Devices > Add device. Enter a name, the IP address and the platform, and choose the credentials.
  4. On the device page, press Back up now.

The first config version is saved. From now on Retivo backs up every device daily at 02:00 server time and keeps a new version only when something changed.
