Back up, compare and restore
Take backups on demand, compare any two versions, and go back to an older one.
Before you begin
- The device needs a working SSH credential.
- Backing up on demand needs Checks and backups; restoring needs Push config.
Back up now
- One device: open it and press Back up now.
- Several: on Config backups, filter by name, vendor, group or storage, tick devices and press Back up selected.
Scheduled backups run daily at 02:00 server time. A new version is kept only when the configuration changed; see Config versions.
Compare two versions
- Open the device and go to its versions.
- Pick the two versions to compare. Removed lines are red on the left, added lines green on the right.
- Download saves either version as a text file.
Restore an older version
- On the device, choose the version to go back to and press Restore.
- Retivo reads the live configuration and proposes the commands that bring the device back.
- Read the proposal. Edit it if you need to.
- Type
yesto send it. Retivo shows the real before and after and says whether the device now matches.
Warning
Read every proposed line before you confirm. Restore does not undo itself, and some things (banners, certificates, ACL order) may need manual work. RouterOS restore is not supported.
